"Everybody" by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins

For my second year of my Master's program, I designed "Everybody" in UGA's Cellar Theater. The concept is a place between worlds for the main character, Everybody, to do their journey of self-discovery. I wanted to use shape and texture more than color in this set, thus the ripples on the walls. When the doors are opened to Everybody at the end to move on to the next life, they are a bright, stark contrast to the world we had been in for the entire show. For props, I wanted everything to be more like iconography of the item as opposed to realistic. Items used by each of the Somebodies were spray painted a flat color. These colors were, in part, picked based on polls I took of people in the shops about what color they associate with a concept, respectively.
